My name is Erinn and I am a middle school learning support teacher in central Pennsylvania. I am currently working towards my masters in Integrating Technology in the Classroom. This blog is focused on increasing the understanding of technology and education in the classroom.
Hi Erinn. I feel we share a few things, besides the ITC program at Walden. I also am from PA, although I now reside in Maryland and I also teach in a middle school setting. Do you feel you have a strong background in technology already? Or are you like me; strong in some areas of technology, but blogging still needs some work?
ReplyDeleteI look forward to blogging with you during this course!
Heidi T.
That is awesome that you are also in PA. I have a friend that graduated from Millersville with me who also works in Maryland. Not sure what school she is at but she is a special educator like me, but is in the elementary school. I am pretty much the same as you when it come to the technology we are currently doing. I have some background but not a super strong one. I am normally pretty good at catching on to technological things so I am hoping this is nothing different. I am glad to have talk to you. I also look forward to working with you on our projects.
ReplyDeleteErinn, I'm originally from Erie, Pa. My grandparents still live there. What subject do you like to teach? How long have you taught? What kind of school do you teach at?
ReplyDeleteTammy,
ReplyDeleteI teach learning support math for 6th and 7th grade and learning support grammar for 7th grade. This is the start of my third year of teaching and I am currently in a middle school. What about you? What grade to do you teach and how long have you been teaching?
Erin, you mentioned, "I like to help the students with summarizing and note taking as much as I can." Everytime I try to teach note-taking skills the kids are immediately turned off because it is not engaging. Perhaps I will try to use the features in Word in the future to make it more engaging. Any suggestions here?
ReplyDeleteMichael, I really like your idea of using colored pencils to help kids differentiate the components of a parageaph. I will try it in the future.
Thank you both!
